Bridal Show Tips

Want to make sure your aimed and ready for your first bridal show? Take a look at this list and you'll be sure not to miss a thing.

1. Try not to go by yourself.  It can be overwhelming when you walk through the doors and all of the potential vendors are vying for your attention.  Bring either your future spouse or a friend This way no one will get lost in the crowd.

2. Many shows offer discount savings if tickets are purchased in advance. To save money, buy early instead of at the door.

3.  If the bridal show is being advertised as a large event, show up before the scheduled start time by at least 15 minutes.  A line will begin forming early and you want to be the first to get a glimpse of what is being offered.  You'll also have less hassle accessing the vendors once you are checked in.

4. Be sure to print mailing labels off your computer with the following information:
  • name
  • address
  • phone number
  • e-mail address
  • wedding date

Ebony-Weddings Note:  Save those free labels you get in the mail with your maiden name.  You can just "peel and go" for each vendor!  This not only saves you from writer's cramp, but allows you to put some of those recycled papers to use.

5. Either bring a bag or be prepared to grab a bag. There will be plenty of brochures to pick up. Grab everything in sight and sort out the information later.

6.  Never make a decision on the spot. If you are genuinely interested in a vendor, take down the information and call later.  You want to schedule an appointment to view his/her work before finalizing any of the details.

7. Be careful of prizes such as "Win a free tuxedo with your order!" or "Free honeymoon!"  Many times this is the vendor's way of getting you to provide your information, only to later find out you have to spend $250 dollars on your wedding party's attire for the free tux - or that "free honeymoon" is good for two days/three nights and you have to pay for the remaining two weeks.  Remember, vendors are trying to get your business.  They'll honor their offer if they're honest and legit.

8.  If there is a fashion show, take time to view and get some good ideas.  You just might see what you're looking for!
